Ten foreign nationals transferred to Romania
Five Syrian, four Afghan nationals and one Moroccan national were handed over to the authorities in Bucharest on August 17, 2021. They were foreign nationals who had received a final negative asylum decision.
On August 17, 2021, a charter operation coordinated by FRONTEX from Austria to Romania took place under special COVID-19 protection measures. During this operation, five Syrian and four Afghan nationals and one Moroccan national were handed over to the Romanian authorities in Bucharest.
The ten individuals removed from Austria were exclusively foreign nationals who had received a final negative asylum decision. The admissibility of these expulsions was confirmed following a comprehensive examination process based on the rule of law. The removed individuals did not fulfill their obligation to leave Austrian territory voluntarily within the set time limit.
