4 Bangladeshi nationals from Austria were handed over to authorities in Dhaka

On 18 January 2022, a charter return operation to Bangladesh coordinated by FRONTEX took place. A total of 33 persons were handed over to the authorities in Dhaka, including 4 Bangladeshi nationals from Austria, 26 from Germany and 3 from Romania.

The 4 persons returned from Austria were exclusively foreign nationals whose legal proceedings had been concluded with a negative result and who did not fulfil the obligation to leave Austrian territory within the set time limit. For this reason, the Federal Office for Immigration and Asylum (BFA) enforced their return from Austria in accordance with the relevant rules of the Aliens Police Act.
