Afghanistan, Iran, Pakistan: EU to provide 113 million euros in humanitarian aid
At the donor conference for Afghanistan on 31 March 2022, the European Commission announced 113 million euros in EU humanitarian aid for the Afghan people.
"Afghanistan continues to face one of the worst humanitarian crises in the world," said Janez Lenarčič, EU Commissioner for Crisis Management. "The EU stands fully alongside Afghanistan and will continue its support to vulnerable Afghan refugees and host communities in Iran and in Pakistan." The amount mentioned includes 18 million euros allocated to Iran and Pakistan this year.
The EU's humanitarian assistance includes medical care, food, shelter, and civilian protection and education projects for Afghan people and Afghans displaced to neighbouring countries. EU aid is always delivered through international relief organisations, the International Committee of the Red Cross, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and UN agencies.
