Austria organised Dublin Charter-return operation to Romania and Bulgaria

7 persons transferred to Romania and Bulgaria under the Dublin III Regulation

In a Dublin charter return operation to Romania and Bulgaria organized by Austria, a total of 7 persons - 5 persons to Romania and 2 persons to Bulgaria - were transferred on November 16, 2022, in accordance with the Dublin III Regulation. Among the repatriated are 5 Indian and 2 Afghan nationals.

The highest qualitative standards were maintained throughout the process. In addition to the escorts, two human rights observers, a doctor, two paramedics and two interpreters were on board during the repatriation.

The purpose of the Dublin III Regulation is to determine which Member State of the European Union is responsible for the examination of the asylum application. This ensures that each application for international protection can be processed quickly by the Member State responsible and that the protection assessment in the EU is carried out only once.
